Our garden Buddha statues range from compact 40cm figures suited to a patio pot grouping, right up to commanding pieces over 2 metres tall that anchor an entire lawn. Larger statues in fibre cement are made for genuine outdoor life and cope well with British rain, though we always suggest raising any statue on a paving slab or plinth rather than sitting it directly on soil, and applying a breathable stone sealer once a year for the longest life. Traditionally, a Buddha placed facing east greets the morning sun, a nod to the Buddha finding enlightenment while facing the rising sun, and many of our customers follow this simple principle when choosing a spot. Seated poses in the Dhyana mudra, with hands resting in the lap, suit quiet corners and meditation spaces, while standing figures work beautifully beside a path or entrance. Will these survive a UK winter outdoors?

Yes. They are made from fibre cement and built to live outside through UK weather on a patio, terrace or bed. A covered spot such as a porch or pergola will keep painted finishes like the antique gold looking fresh for longer.

What sizes work in a typical garden?

50cm suits a border or patio corner. 96cm to 1.2m anchors a seating or meditation area. Our largest standing pieces are full garden focal points and need open space around them.

Where should a garden Buddha be placed?

Raised off bare earth on a slab, plinth or gravel, facing toward the house rather than away, somewhere you can see it from a window or seat. Beside a path, under a tree or near water all work well.

Will the finish weather?

Gradually, and most owners like it. Gloss and metallic finishes soften and the statue settles into the garden. A spring wash with water and a soft brush is all the cleaning it needs. No pressure washers.

How heavy are they?

Heavy enough to sit firm in wind at the larger sizes. For smaller statues in exposed spots, bed the base into gravel or silicone it to a slab.
